My hometown

I live just outside Oslo at a place called Kolsås which is in Bærum. If you google "Kolsås" you wouldn't find many interesting photos. That is simply because Kolsås is not a very interesting place. But that isn't a big problem. I only have to travel 30 minutes by bus to get to Oslo, or just 10 minutes by bus to get to Sandvika where my school is. In Sadvika, just about 400 meters from my school, you'll find Scandinavia largest shopping mall. Which probably isn't too large compared to the malls you can find in America. But you would still find everything you need there.

Behind my house lies a little mountain called Kolsåstoppen. It's a nice place to go hiking because when you reach the southern top, you have a great view over Bærum. That point is only 340 meters above sea level, but it's still a popular mountain for local climbers.

For people who are just driving through, Kolsås looks like some boring place out on the countryside. And maybe it is. But it's so close to "everything" so it doesn't really matter.

Hi Kristine,

It sounds like everyone's hometown is close to large towns, if their town isn't already large. We are close to several larger towns/cities: Bossier, Shreveport, Ruston, Monroe. Monroe is the furthest at about 50 miles. Most of us go to Shreveport and Bossier for shopping which is about 25 - 35 minutes from here.
In our town, you seem to see everyone when you go to Walmart:) but we dont have a mall.

You will receive a comment from my students soon. Hopefully by the time you read this.

Thanks for your comment =) Because I only use this as a school blog, I forget to check it sometimes. I have read the blogs to some of your students, and they seem to love their hometown a lot. Minden sounds like a nice place to live. Many people in Norway who live outside Bærum have prejudiced against this place and the people living here. This is basically because many people in Bærum make more money than people other places in the country. People in Bærum and parts of Oslo are considered as "snobs" and "sosser" (soss = a person who have a lot of money, wear expensive clothes, and think he or she is better than everyone else). Of course we have people like that living here, but most people are nice and down to earth, even though their parents make a lot of money. =)

Hey Kristine,
Your hometown seems real nice. I would rather live out in the country than in the city. In the country its quite and you can do just about whatever you like.
